Painting an interior wall is one of the easiest DIY projects and can be accomplished by anyone by just keeping some important tips and tricks in mind. Following these instructions, even a beginner can get amazing results and create places of his dreams.

Follow the following steps to get the job done.

1. Collect Material:
The first step is to collect the material required for painting. It includes a dust sheet or drop cloth (preferably canvas for better coverage and absorbency), wall putty, paints, brushes, rollers, decorative tape, paint scraper and a step ladder.

2. Prepare the work area:
Remove any wall hangings or nails from the wall, remove furniture away from the wall and cover the floor near the wall and the furniture with a drop cloth. Stick decorative tape on skirting and around sockets to keep them paint free.

3. Prepare the wall surface:
Scrape away any peeled off paint with a scraper and fill all the cracks and holes with a wall putty. After the putty is dry, sand the area with an abrasive paper to even out the surface and clean the dust particles with a brush or a vacuum.

4. Apply primer:
It is one of the most important steps while painting a wall. A primer helps in covering the old paint (if any) and works as an adhesive between the paint and the wall. Primer is necessary especially after applying wall putty. Leave the primer to dry before applying any paint.
(Pro tip: tint the primer a little with the wall color to be applied. It helps in blending the paint with the primer and covering the wall more easily)

5. Paint the wall:

After your surface is ready, choose your color shade from the vast variety of Master Paints Emulsions and paint the edges of the wall first with a paint brush. For example, the edges of the ceiling and skirting, corners of the walls and around sockets etc. where the roller cannot reach easily. It helps in an even distribution of paint on the wall. After that, dip the roller in the paint and clean away any access paint by rubbing it on the roller tray. Paint your walls easily without applying too much pressure or the paint will start to drip on the wall.
(Pro tip: Apply primer or paint in a “W” first and then paint evenly in straight lines. This helps in mixing the paint on the wall evenly)

That’s it! Your room will be ready with a brand new color and a brand new ambiance. If your project takes more than a day, you can store your paint brushes without washing by scraping off any access paint, wrapping them tightly in plastic food wrap and placing them in a refrigerator. Just take them out 30 minutes before painting and they’ll be as ready as ever.
