Home Cinema
Home cinemas have been a trend for a long time now and are a comfortable, cozy place for enjoying movies with family and friends or even if you are enjoying a movie alone, they have that amazing feeling like watching a movie in a theatre. But how to create that feeling for your own space?
1. The most important aspect that comes after choosing the screen or projector is the color for your cinema walls and ceiling. It is advised to use dark, matt colors for walls, especially the wall behind your screen should be a darker shade so the colors on the screen stand out easily. Using shades of maroon, black and dark greys should be considered for walls behind the screen. Chilli Red, Black and Plum from Royal Matt Emulsion are great options for walls.
2. A great way to create contrast among the room is to use one color behind the screen or on the projector wall, and another contrasting color on the rest of the walls to create an exciting look in the overall room. The walls other than the focal wall can have a lighter shade of color but not too light so that the light does not reflect through those colors. Darker shades absorb light and are a great option for home theatres.
3. Matt colors are a must for such rooms, as glossy or otherwise finishes will reflect light and create distractions for the viewers. Also add a color to the ceiling, preferably black or dark grey to keep the screen colors truer and more enhanced.
4. Avoid bold colors like blue, yellow or green as they tend to distort the original colors of the screen and don’t look comfortable in home theatres. Avoid tiles or glossy flooring as well as they reflect light and will take the eye away from the screen more often. Opt for a carpeted floor as not only will it look cozier, it will also act as a sound barrier.
