We all are familiar with the rise in global temperatures, glaciers melting in the North Pole and rising sea levels due to global warming. With all these threats hovering over our heads, we want to make sure that our daily life activities don’t leave a carbon footprint worsening the effect of global warming. That’s the reason so many companies are going green these days. Here are a few eco-friendly tips by which you can also make an impact on the environment by reducing the ecological footprint and greenhouse gas emissions of your workplace.
Conserve Electricity
Using fluorescent bulbs instead of incandescent ones can save a lot
of energy. Make sure you turn off all computers, printers, photocopiers and
other electronic equipment by the end of the day.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Try to minimize your office waste as much as you can. Go paperless.
Limit the use of disposable water cups or plastic bottles. Install a water
filter in the office instead.
Use green office products
These products usually cost a fraction more but help a great deal in
reducing your carbon footprint. Green products might include 100% recycled
paper, refillable ink cartridges and non-toxic high-lighters.
Make ecofriendly food
choices
Try choosing organic food especially if it's a high consumption food
in your office. Prefer buying local before going for processed foods. Also make
sure the coffee and tea supply for the office is fair trade and organic.
Commuting to work
Working from home, specifically for the workers who have to drive regularly to work, can cut a lot of pollution and increase time availability as well. If driving to office is inevitable, try using alternate methods like carpooling, biking or walking if convenient.
